NanoMaterials Commercialization

Although nanotechnology is new to most of the world, it has been an integral part of metallurgy in Pittsburgh for more than forty years. Because the road to commercial success for new products of all types is fraught with obstacles, commercial success for nano-enabled products is all the more challenging. The very newness of many nanoscale materials tends to obstruct the application of novel characteristics to real-world applications.

Pennsylvania’s pivotal role as a center of science and technology combined with Pittsburgh’s foundational role in the field of materials science gives the Center a unique set of resources for the successful commercialization of nano-enabled materials and products.

The Center’s primary objective is to clear the way to the commercialization of nanomaterials by leveraging Pennsylvania’s scientific, industrial and manufacturing resources to bring nano-enabled products to market as quickly as possible.
