Investment

The Pennsylvania NanoMaterials Commercialization Center provides direct investment for promising nanomaterials technologies with well defined defense or commercial applications. This investment is in the form of grants to partnerships of researchers, entrepreneurs and companies for projects which transition the technology from the laboratory to a prototype. The source of funding for this investment is from the Center’s two public funding partners; the Department of Community and Economic Development of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Air Force Research Laboratories at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton Ohio.

The Center invites proposals for promising projects twice per year. For more information, see the Center’s Proposal Guidelines and Proposal Format documents.

The Center attempts to leverage its public investment with other sources of funding. The Center does this in a number of ways. First, the Center encourages proposers to provide cash or in-kind match to their project proposals. Second, if a proposal is successful, the Center assists its project partners with marketing and other means to showcase their technology and product innovation to other partners of the Center. This in turn creates additional opportunities for follow-on investment after the project is concluded.
